dEb Deceleration Energy Backup Error fault in delta drive

dEb Deceleration Energy Backup Error fault in delta drive troubleshooting

Description

dEb is often a status warning that escalates to a fault. It relates to the "Deceleration Energy Backup" function, which is designed to keep the drive control active during a momentary power loss by using the motor's regenerative energy (turning the motor into a generator to power the CPU).

Causes

1. Power Fluctuation: The main power grid is unstable, dipping frequently.
2. Decel Settings: The drive tried to execute the backup braking function but the motor didn't have enough inertia/energy to keep the DC bus charged.
3. Function Active: In some modes, "dEb" flashes just to tell you the function is running. If it stays on and the drive stops, it failed to ride through the power dip.

Solution

Power quality management:
1. Check Mains: If this happens frequently, install a line reactor or UPS.
2. Disable Function: If your application (like a fan) can simply coast to stop during a blackout, disable the dEb function in the parameters (usually Group 07).
3. Resistor: dEb is complex to tune. Ensure you aren't fighting a braking resistor; dEb wants to keep energy, resistors want to dump it.
