E-02 Active Filter / Brake Unit fault in Toshiba drive

E-02 Active Filter / Brake Unit fault in Toshiba drive

Description On high-horsepower Toshiba drives (like the G9 or AS3 400HP+), or setups using an external "Active Front End" (Regenerative Unit), E-02 indicates a failure in that auxiliary unit. The main VFD is fine, but the unit supplying the DC bus or handling the regeneration has reported a fault signal to the main drive. Causes
1. Regen Unit Trip: The external regenerative unit (connected to the DC bus) has tripped on Overvoltage or Phase Loss.
2. Overheat: The braking unit (chopper) is overheating.
3. Wiring: The feedback wire from the external unit to the drive's "Emergency" or "Ext Fault" input is broken.
4. Parameter Setting: The drive is configured to expect an Active Front End (AFE) but none is connected. Solution Do not look at the main VFD display. Go to the external Braking Unit or Regen Unit. It will have its own LEDs or display showing the *actual* root cause (e.g., Input Phase Loss on the Regen).

Resolve the fault on the external unit. Once that unit is happy and closes its "Healthy" relay, the E-02 on the main drive will clear upon reset.

If you do not have an external unit, check the digital inputs. E-02 is often mapped to a specific input terminal. If that input is floating (unconnected), the drive thinks the external unit has failed. Disable the input assignment or jumper the terminal.
