E-06Â Option Slot A Error fault in Toshiba drive
E-06 Option Slot A Error fault in Toshiba drive
Description Modular Toshiba drives (like the AS1 or G9) have multiple expansion slots for add-on cards. E-06 specifically refers to a failure in **Slot A** (or Slot 1). This differentiates it from the generic "E-12" or "E-23" which are general communication errors. E-06 means the card in Slot A is electrically present but has stopped communicating with the CPU or has reported a fatal hardware self-test failure. Causes
1. Poor Seating: The card was inserted crookedly, or vibration has caused the multi-pin connector to lose contact.
2. Card Failure: The specific expansion card (e.g., Encoder Card, 120V I/O card) has failed.
3. Compatibility: The card installed in Slot A is a "Slot B Only" card (some communication cards must go in specific slots).
4. Bent Pins: Pins on the header connector were bent during installation. Solution Power down. Wait 5 minutes. Remove the card from Slot A. Inspect the pins on the drive motherboard and the socket on the card. Look for bent or pushed-in pins.
Clean the contacts with electronic contact cleaner. Re-insert the card firmly and screw it down.
If the fault returns, try moving the card to Slot B (if the manual allows this card type in Slot B). If the fault follows the card (becoming E-07), the card is dead. If the fault stays as E-06 with a different known-good card, the drive's motherboard slot is damaged.
