E-31 Ethernet/IP Communication Fault fault in Toshiba drive

E-31 Ethernet/IP Communication Fault fault in Toshiba drive

Description Specific to the newer AS3 or Ethernet-equipped drives. E-31 indicates a fatal error in the Ethernet stack or Option Card hardware. It differs from E-23 (Network Loss) because E-31 often implies the card itself has malfunctioned or the IP address configuration is invalid (duplicate IP). Causes
1. Duplicate IP: Two devices on the subnet have the same address (e.g., 192.168.1.10).
2. Card Crash: The ethernet processor overheated or crashed due to broadcast storms.
3. Firmware Mismatch: The drive firmware is too old to support the newer Ethernet card version installed. Solution Disconnect the Ethernet cable. Cycle power. Check parameter F800+ for IP settings. Ensure the IP is unique.

Check the web server (if available) of the card. If you cannot ping the card, it is likely dead. Update the firmware of both the drive and the option card to the latest version provided by Toshiba.
