EF2 External Fault 2 fault in delta drive
EF2 External Fault 2 fault in delta drive troubleshooting
Description
Just like EF, EF2 is an external input trip. However, many Delta drives allow multiple External Fault inputs (EF, EF1, EF2). This allows you to segregate different safety devices (e.g., EF is E-Stop, EF2 is Motor Vibration Switch).
Causes
1. Secondary Safety: The device wired to input MI3, MI4, or MI5 (programmed as 11 or 12) has tripped.
2. Auxiliary Trip: Often used for "Transformer Overtemp" or "Gearbox Low Oil" sensors.
Solution
Identify the source:
1. Check Parameters: Look at Group 02 (Digital Inputs). Find which terminal (MIx) is set to "External Fault 2".
2. Trace Wiring: Follow that wire to the field device.
3. Reset Device: Resolve the issue at the sensor/switch and reset the drive.
