Hdb Hardware Error (IGBT/Gate) fault in delta drive

Hdb Hardware Error (IGBT/Gate) fault in delta drive troubleshooting

Description

Hdb indicates a failure in the output power stage logic. The drive runs a self-check on the Gate Driver optocouplers and the IGBT firing sequence. If the feedback from the gate driver is abnormal, Hdb trips to prevent an explosion.

Causes

1. IGBT Short: The power module has internally shorted.
2. Gate Driver Blown: The circuit that switches the IGBTs on/off is damaged.
3. Ribbon Cable: The cable connecting the Control Board to the Power Board is loose or corroded.

Solution

Safety critical:
1. Do Not Reset Repeatedly: If this happens, do not keep trying to run the drive.
2. Check Ribbon: Reseat the internal ribbon cables carefully.
3. Diode Check: Perform a static check of the IGBTs with a multimeter (Diode mode) across (+/-) and output terminals.
4. Service: This generally requires professional repair.
