HEADÂ Keypad / Display Header fault in Toshiba drive
HEAD Keypad / Display Header Fault fault in Toshiba drive
Description "HEAD" is a message that appears when one of the keys on the keypad is stuck in the pressed position during power-up, or the CPU detects a short circuit in the display matrix. It stands for "Header" or "Head Unit" error. The drive cannot guarantee safe operation if it thinks the "Run" or "Stop" button is permanently held down. Causes
1. Stuck Button: A physical button on the keypad is jammed due to dirt, oil, or a broken plastic membrane.
2. Debris: Conductive dust has entered the keypad housing and shorted the button contacts.
3. Hardware Failure: The keypad circuit board has failed. Solution Power down the drive. Press every button on the keypad firmly and release it. You are trying to "un-stick" a jammed tactile switch. If the environment is dirty, use compressed air to blow around the edges of the buttons.
If the keypad is removable, take it off and clean the connector contacts. If the error persists, power up the drive with the keypad removed (if possible on your model) to see if it clears. If it clears, you just need to buy a replacement keypad, which is cheap. If "HEAD" stays on even without the keypad, the issue is on the main control board connector, requiring a drive repair.
