InEr Initialization fault in Toshiba drive
InEr Initialization Error (Option) fault in Toshiba drive
Description "InEr" appears during the boot sequence. It means the drive detects an option card plugged into a slot, but the card failed to initialize (boot up) within the allowed timeframe. It differs from "E-06" (Slot Fault) which is a runtime disconnect. InEr means "I see the card, but it won't talk to me." Causes
1. Firmware Incompatibility: The option card is a new version (e.g., Ethernet/IP V2) and the Drive CPU is old (V1). The drive doesn't know how to initialize the new hardware.
2. Card Defect: The processor on the option card is dead.
3. DIP Switches: Incorrect configuration of switches on the card (e.g., putting a card in "Flash Update" mode instead of "Run" mode). Solution Power down. Remove the card. Check the DIP switches against the option card manual. Ensure it is set to "Normal Operation."
Check firmware versions. If you bought a brand new comms card for an old drive, you may need to update the drive's firmware (requires Toshiba flash tool) or downgrade the card.
Try reseating the card. If InEr persists, try the card in a different drive. If it fails there too, the card is defective.
