LIFE / L-Alrm Service Life Alarm fault in Toshiba drive

LIFE / L-Alrm Service Life Alarm fault in Toshiba drive

Description This is a maintenance warning that can be configured to trip the drive. The Toshiba VFD tracks the running hours of the main cooling fans and the estimated aging of the main DC Bus Capacitors (based on temperature and load). When these counters exceed the manufacturer's lifespan (e.g., 10 years or 50,000 hours), the "LIFE" alarm flashes. Causes
1. Age: The drive has been running for many years.
2. High Temp: High ambient temperatures accelerate the internal aging calculation.
3. Fan Stoppage: If a fan is locked, the life counter may deplete faster. Solution This is a reminder to plan for maintenance.
1. Fans: Inspect them. If they are noisy or slow, order replacements. Reset the "Fan Life Counter" (usually in the Maintenance Monitor menu) after replacement.
2. Capacitors: Visual inspection. Look for bulging tops or leaking fluid on the large capacitors. If they look good, you can reset the "Capacitor Life Counter" to clear the alarm, but be aware the drive is on borrowed time.
3. To stop the alarm from preventing operation, check the "Life Alarm Selection" parameter and set it to "Display Only" rather than "Trip."
