OPE Operation Panel Error fault in Toshiba drive

OPE Operation Panel Error fault in Toshiba drive

Description OPE indicates a mismatch or communication breakdown between the VFD and its keypad (Operation Panel). This is different from "HEAD" (Head failure). OPE usually means the keypad connected is electrically compatible but logically incompatible—for example, plugging a keypad from an older "S11" series drive into a newer "S15" drive, or using a specialized "Parametric Writer" unit while the drive is in Run mode. Causes
1. Incompatible Model: Using the wrong model of remote keypad.
2. Connection Timing: Plugging in the keypad while the drive is already powered up and running (hot-swapping is generally supported, but can sometimes glitch).
3. Keypad Firmware: The firmware version of the keypad is too old to understand the parameters of the new drive. Solution Verify the part number on the back of the keypad. Ensure it is listed in the drive's manual as a supported accessory.

Power cycle the drive with the keypad connected. This allows the drive to handshake with the panel during the boot sequence.

If you are using a copy unit (a device to transfer parameters), ensure the switch on the side is not stuck in a "Read/Write" position that conflicts with the drive's current state.
