SV0463 FSSB: Send Error (Master) fault in Fanuc drive

SV0463 FSSB: Send Error (Master) fault in Fanuc drive

Description

SV0463 is the counterpart to SV0462. While 462 is a slave (drive) problem, SV0463 is a Master (CNC) problem. It means the CNC's axis card attempted to send data down the optical fiber to the drives, but the transmission failed or timed out. The "Master" is the origin of the signal. This fault isolates the issue closer to the main computer rack rather than the servo amplifiers.

Cause

  • CNC Axis Card Failure: The optical transmitter on the CNC motherboard or axis card is burnt out.
  • First Cable: The fiber optic cable connecting the CNC to the first amplifier is damaged.
  • CPU Load: Rarely, the CNC processor is overloaded and missed the interrupt timing to send the data.

Solution

  1. Clean Optical Port: Remove the cable from the CNC optical port (COP10A). Use compressed air to ensure no dust is blocking the lens.
  2. Replace First Cable: Since the error originates at the Master, the very first cable in the chain is the primary suspect.
  3. Reseat Axis Card: Power down and reseat the axis control card in the CNC rack.
