SV0465 Amplifier ID Read Error fault in Fanuc drive

SV0465 Amplifier ID Read Error fault in Fanuc drive

Description

SV0465 is a startup configuration fault. During the boot sequence, the CNC queries the servo amplifier for its hardware ID (which defines its current rating and model). SV0465 means the drive failed to return its ID. This prevents the CNC from loading the correct parameters, as it doesn't know what kind of hardware is attached.

Cause

  • Control Board Failure: The logic board on the servo amplifier is dead or the ID storage chip (EEPROM) is corrupted.
  • 24V Timing: The 24V control power arrived too late after the CNC booted, causing the query to timeout.
  • Grounding: Poor grounding causing noise on the communication bus during initialization.

Solution

  1. Power Cycle: Turn off everything. Wait 1 minute. Turn on. Sometimes it is just a timing glitch.
  2. Reseat Boards: If the drive has a removable control card, reseat it.
  3. Replace Amplifier: If the ID cannot be read consistently, the control logic of the amplifier is defective and requires replacement.
