tYP Type Form / Model Mismatch fault in Toshiba drive

Description The "tYP" fault (Type Error) is a configuration mismatch. The Toshiba VFD control board (logic) is universal across many amperages, but the Power Board is specific to the horsepower. When the drive powers up, the logic board queries the power board. If the logic board thinks it is installed in a 5HP drive, but the power board says "I am a 50HP drive," the tYP fault occurs. This most commonly happens after a repair where a control board was swapped from one unit to another. Causes
1. Board Swap: Moving a control terminal board (control card) from a spare drive to a broken drive without resetting it.
2. Corruption: The EEPROM memory holding the drive capacity code has been corrupted.
3. Connector Issue: The ribbon cable connecting Logic Board to Power Board is damaged, preventing identification. Solution You must perform a "Type Reset" or "Clear" to tell the logic board to re-learn its host.

1. Navigate to the Standard Setting parameter (often "tYP" or F007 in hidden menus depending on the model).
2. Select the option for "Clear Fault" or "Initialize Type."
3. Often, you must set the specific "Capacity Code" parameter to match the drive label (e.g., set code to '12' for a 10HP model). Refer to the service manual for the table of Capacity Codes.
4. Cycle power. On the next boot, the logic board will read the power board ID and lock it in.
Note: This will usually reset all user parameters to factory default, so you must have a backup of your motor settings.
