Negative Resistance Characteristics Diode 

Negative Resistance: In electronics, negative resistance is a property of some electrical circuits and devices in which an increase in voltage across the device's terminals results in a decrease in electrical current through it.

A tunnel diode exhibits negative resistance characteristics because this diode is construed with heavily doped p and n regions as result there is no break down effect for reverse voltage and an extremely narrow regions.
