How to Fix Siemens SINAMICS Alarm A7991 Motor ID Selected?

-
Image
Seeing A7991 on your Siemens drive? This alarm means Motor Data Identification is selected. Learn how to start the ID run or clear the alarm in our guide.   Solving Siemens Alarm A7991: Motor Data Identification Selected If you are looking at your Siemens SINAMICS G120 or S120 drive and the display is flashing A7991 , you are in the final stages of setting up your motor. In the Siemens manual, this is defined as "Motor data identification selected." This isn't a "broken" state. It is the drive's way of saying, "I'm ready to measure the motor's electrical traits, but I'm waiting for you to tell me when to start." Let's look at why this appears and how to clear it so you can get back to production. Why is Alarm A7991 Appearing? The A7991 alarm is triggered when Parameter P1900 (Motor data identification and speed controller optimization) is set to a value other than 0. ...

How to Fix ABB ACS880 Fault 5091 Safe Torque Off (STO)?

Getting Fault 5091 on your ABB ACS880 drive? Learn how to troubleshoot the Safe Torque Off (STO) circuit, check XSTO connections, and configure parameter 31.22 to clear the error. If your ABB ACS880 industrial drive has tripped with Fault 5091 , the first thing to understand is that your drive isn't necessarily "broken." In fact, it is doing exactly what it was designed to do: ensuring the safety of your machinery and personnel. Fault 5091 indicates that the Safe Torque Off (STO) function is active. This means the drive has lost the required 24V DC signal on its safety input terminals, and it has disabled the power stage to prevent the motor from generating any torque. Here is a guide on how to find the break in the circuit and get your process back online. Why is Fault 5091 Triggering? The ACS880 monitors the XSTO connector (typically a specialized orange or gray terminal block on the control unit). The fault occurs in two primary scenarios...

How to Troubleshoot the "bb" (Baseblock) Error in Yaskawa VFDs

-

Seeing the "bb" code on your Yaskawa drive? Learn what Baseblock means, common causes like external interlocks or safety circuits, and how to clear this status to get your motor running.   If you are working with a Yaskawa V1000, A1000, or GA700 drive and the display suddenly shows a flashing "bb" , you might think the drive has failed. However, "bb" is unique because it is often a status indicator rather than a permanent hardware fault. In the world of Yaskawa, "bb" stands for Baseblock . When this appears, the drive has cut off the power to the motor by "blocking" the firing of the internal transistors (IGBTs). The motor will coast to a stop, and the drive will refuse to start until the "bb" condition is cleared. Here is how to find out what is triggering it. What is a Baseblock (bb) Signal? Think of the Baseblock as a "Software E-Stop." It is an instruction given to the drive to immediat...
